instruct NIH to fund a clinical trial on Salvestrols, a potential natural cure for cancer

Created by D.G. on July 18, 2014

Salvestrols are naturally occurring compounds. They were discovered by Gerald Potter, the inventor of Abiraterone, a drug used in the treatment of prostate cancer. Cancer cells contain an enzyme, CYP1B1, that is not present in normal cells. CYP1B1 breaks down Salvestrols into products that are toxic to the cancer cell itself. Thus Salvestrols are a good candidate for a cure for cancer. However, Salvestrols are not patentable, so no pharmaceutical company will pay for the clinical trials that would prove their effectiveness. This petition urges the administration to instruct NIH to fund and conduct such clinical trials.
