Instruct the Treasury to strike portraits of Congressional Leaders onto any Debt Ceiling contingency coins.

Created by N.B. on January 07, 2013

The Debt Ceiling fight has come to represent the worst in our government: manufactured crisis after manufactured crisis. One answer solution is for the Secretary of the Treasury to mint a coin worth enough to pay our debts. This is a technicality that would allow congressional action on the debt ceiling to be side-stepped.

Historically, our currency bears the portraits of the most consequential American leaders. Perhaps this context or the threat of immortalizing their pettiness will inspire Congressional Leadership to act in a manner that befits their offices.
