Monsanto's Roundup (glyphosphate) is the probable cause of an epidemic of fatal kidney disease now ranked the second major killer of El Salvador men. Researchers who published in the International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health (2014; 11: 2125-2147) have offered a solid argument that glyphosphate can bind with environmental metals and deposit them in the kidneys of exposed individuals. Yet Ambassador Mari Carmen Aponte is pressuring El Salvador to purchase Monsanto's Roundup Ready seeds and glyphosphate, at the same time that the US is withholding a $300 million aid package. El Salvador is not alone in this epidemic of kidney failure and death; other glyphosphate contaminated countries reporting the disease are Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Sri Lanka and India. Enough!
