On December 2015, Every Student Succeeds Acts(ESSA) formerly known as No Child Left Behind Act was signed into law. This law was created to "raise achievement for low-income and otherwise disadvantaged children."
It is now mid July, based on the last School Advisory Board meeting, Superintendent Cerf has NOT afforded Newark's parents and community members information regarding the new law and how we can benefit from ESSA.
We urge Secretary John King to submit a letter to Superintendent Cerf and hold him accountable for his obligation to serve Newark's Traditional Common Public Schools thereby disseminating information regarding ESSA, implementing interventions for the entire district, and informing us of the progress with the Southward Community School Iniative.
