Publicly owned OPG wants to bury 7.1 million cubic feet of waste from nuclear plants about 2,230 feet below the earth's surface at the Bruce Power generating station near Kincardine, Ontario.
We urge the current administration to intervene and not allow the potential destruction of such a precious natural resource. If Lake Huron were to become contaminated with nuclear waste, this would have disastrous effects on the citizens the United States of America. While OPG has laid out a comprehensive plan for reducing the possibility of contamination, we cannot bear this risk and must protect our water supply by seeing that this project is halted before it comes to fruition. The last place to bury and abandon radioactive nuclear waste is beside the largest body of fresh water in the world.
