Intervene in the death sentence of pregnant Meriam Yehya Ibrahim Ishag for apostasy under Sharia law in Sudan

Created by M.R. on May 15, 2014

Heavily pregnant Meriam Yehya Ibrahim also known by the Islamic name Adraf Al-Hadi Mohammed Abdullah has been sentenced to 100 lashes and death by hanging by the neck by a Sudanese court for apostasy after she left Islam and married a Christian man.

She was convicted of adultery on the grounds that her marriage to a Christian man from South Sudan was void under Sudan's version of Islamic law, which says Muslim women cannot marry non-Muslims.

The woman was originally sentenced to death on Sunday but given until Thursday to return to Islam.

She calmly told the judge: "I am a Christian and I never committed apostasy."

Please help undo this injustice for her and for all women.
