The Cabot-Koppers Superfund Site in Gainesville, FL is one of the oldest, most toxic sites in the US. A wood treatment plant operated for nearly a century. Residents and their children need immediate, permanent relocation out of highly contaminated homes in surrounding neighborhoods. They have been protesting, testifying of their families' illnesses and deaths, and demanding environmental justice and permanent relocation for over 50 years. Test results confirm extremely high levels of dioxins inside homes within a two mile radius from the site averaging 400 to over 1000 times above US EPA's safe level standard. Dioxins, arsenic and PAHs are responsible for hundreds, possibly thousands, of birth defects and deaths from cancers and many other diseases in the area.
