The mass die-off of honey bees is a serious threat to all of us. These little creatures pollinate over $30 million worth of American crops, and are in a crisis that must be addressed immediately, if it is to be averted.
10 million hives have been wiped out due to Colony Collapse Disorder (CCD). Scientists have worked to determine a cause, citing pesticides among other possible culprits. Research suggests that fungicides are also a threat to the bees.
If the bees die, some studies estimate that humanity could only survive for a maximum of four years. We must act.
Please devote real resources to addressing what could be an enormous crisis in a matter of a few years. Research, education, possible regulation and re-purposing could all be needed to reverse this trend. Save the bees: save us.
