Like the vast majority of the United States citizen, Michigan citizens also believe in Democracy. In the November 2012 General Election, the voters were asked if we approved of PA 4 of 2011 (Emergency Manager Law). Overwhelmingly, we said, "NO!"
We don't believe democracy allows one person to make decisions without any checks and balances but this is what PA 4 of 2011 allowed. After the people said NO, another version was created during a lame duck session less than two months after the NO vote via Public Act 436 (Emergency Manager Law) which made this law even more destructive whereas it would be almost impossible to be repealed. This law was signed by Governor Rick Snyder.
