The situation on the island is dire, and local government officials have proved incompetent and uncaring about the people on the island. Instead on focusing on job creation trying to get people of the streets, there are plans to lay of an extra 30,000 government workers. Amidst this, politicians applying for pay raises, some already absurdly high when compared to quality of life costs on the island. Crime rates are at an all time high, and laying people off will make the situation bubble until it boils to the point that the island will collapse on itself. Less jobs here will mean more immigration to the U.S. as well, a situation that will affect both sides in the future. This island needs a new direction, and we need people in command that truly want to and can make a difference.
