In January 2010 the supreme court ruled in favor of Citizen's United. The 2012 election has proven that election financing has spiraled out of control. Special interest groups can now spend unlimited sums of money, anonymously, to endorse whomever they choose. This has an affect on policy decisions. Politicians must continue to raise funds for elections. Therefore, those with the most financial contributions become a strong influence on the policies of lawmakers. Citizens should need not pay for the attention of their representatives.
Campaign finance reform is necessary to offer an even playing field to candidates without strong lobbyists. Super PACs and 501c4's have changed the climate for too long. Campaigns should be financed publicly.
Please amend this to the constitution.
