The legislation implements the following:
A member of Congress shall receive a salary while in office but receives no compensation after leaving office.
Congressional members participate in Social Security at the same rate as other federal employees. All funds in the Congressional retirement fund are transferred to the Social Security fund.
Congressional members receive pay raises comparable to those received by all federal employees.
Congressional members receive the same health insurance coverage as all other federal employees.
Congressional members, upon completing their term in office, may seek employment in the private sector consistent with the same guidelines imposed on federal employees as it relates to employment after separation from federal service.
