To date, no Legislative remedy has ever been enacted by Congress to protect the citizens of this nation from Identity Theft. With millions of Americans victimized on an annual basis by the single largest White Collar crime nationally, no laws have been passed or have ever been introduced to protect citizens from the ravages that Identity Theft causes in their lives.
When one becomes a victim, their credit, standing in the community and even employment can be damaged for a period of up to 10 years. The Credit Reporting Bureaus have no legislation to guide them and they are under no obligation to assist victims other than innocuous attempts to "verify" the alleged accuracy of the debt or non-debt. The time has come to protect our citizens from newborn to senior from these crimes.
