Introduce a bill to reduce college textbook prices and prevent publishers from customizing books to prevent resale.

Created by R.B. on December 06, 2012

This petition is intended to influence the administration to address the rising prices of college textbooks which makes them very difficult to afford for a large percent of the student population. Textbook publishers have a strangle hold on the market and have gone so far as to produce 'custom' books (with one-time codes for websites) for different schools which makes them nearly impossible for a student to resell outside the student body at the end of the semester. While of course businesses have the right to innovate, this is one industry where the consumers have no choice but to pay prices which double and triple decade to decade. Thousands of low income students would no doubt appreciate any help they can get to make these required books affordable.
