To introduce a Congressional bill to abolish the Electoral College

Created by L.G. on January 16, 2013

The President should introduce a bill to amend the US Constitution that abolishes the Twelfth Amendment in its entirety. Instead the President and Vice President of the United Stated should be elected in the following manner:

US citizens should vote for presidential tickets consisting of a presidential and a vice presidential candidate. The ticket receving the greatest number of popular votes should be declared the winner as long as both candidates are constitutionally qualified to serve in their respective offices.

This amendment would abolish the Electoral College, primaries, caucuses and Congress' ability to select the President and Vice President of the United States.
