introduce a constitutional amendment expanding the 22nd amendment to the legislative branch

Created by T.M. on November 26, 2012

I petition the Obama administration to introduce the following amendment to the Constitution of the United States. This Amendment, using the 22nd amendment as a template, would limit the amount of time that one elected official can spend in both the House of Representatives or in the Senate. The time spent in the House would be limited to 12 years (or 6 full terms if elected as an in term replacement). Senators terms would be limited to 18 years (or 3 full terms in the event of an in term replacement)

The honor of serving in congress was meant to be a short term affair. It was never meant to be a long term, lucrative career. if its good enough for the executive branch, it should be good for the legislative one as well
