It is inappropriate for the leaders of our country to engage in brinksmanship to the detriment of The People, while secure in the knowledge that they will continue to receive their pay. To that end, this petition seeks the introduction of an amendment to The Constitution of the United States mandating that The President, Vice-President, and members of both houses will not be paid in the event of a government shutdown. That we should need to incentivize our leaders to behave responsibly is embarrassing, yet apparently there is no other option.
