introduce direct democracy and electoral reforms in order to end the control of the power elite over the government!

Created by Z.N. on June 11, 2013

For almost 200 years, the Swiss Confederation has operated as a direct democracy. All governmental decisions ultimately lie in the hands of the people, and they may call for national referendums over issues anytime they feel it is necessary. In addition, we would like to see electoral reforms including, but not limited to: giving ALL candidates equal air time to campaign, a limited campaign season, allowing ALL candidates to participate in televised debates, the introduction of proportional representation, multi-seat constituencies and single transferable vote, an end to egregious campaign donations, placing ALL candidates on the ballot, and fostering an atmosphere to create a multi-party democracy to put an end to the two-party system so that we may strengthen our democracy.
