Weighing private right against public good is rarely easy; but when it comes to assault weapons, the answer is clear:
We must introduce a federal bill prohibiting manufacture, use and sale of new, and use and sale of existing assault weapons (semi-automatic guns and rifles). This ban will not impede rights provided by the 2nd Amendment, yet it will prevent mass-tragedies.
