Introduce federal legislation banning firearm magazines with over 12 rounds for civilian sale, purchase and use.

Created by A.O. on December 15, 2012

Our nation has seen a recent rash of gun violence, most recently manifesting in the the tragic shooting of 20 kids and 6 adults at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut. While America has a proud tradition of hunters and sportsmen, there are some common sense steps that can be taken without infringing on their rights.

The most obvious of these steps is banning high capacity magazines. Several of the shooters in these atrocities used high capacity magazines that allowed them to fire dozens of rounds without reloading. If these psychopaths had not had access to these high-capacity magazines, several families would not have lost their loved ones. Magazines with over 12 rounds should be restricted to law enforcement and military use to help prevent future atrocities.
