Introduce harsher punishments for animal cruelty offenses.

Created by F.P. on April 19, 2016

We believe that the Obama administration should introduce harsher punishments against animal cruelty. Currently, people who abuse animals have only light punishments including warnings, a few hundred dollar fines, or 1 month to a year in jail. For the first level of offenses, we should increase the fine penalty. Repeat offenders should not be allowed to work with animals or own a pet. The court should also mandate therapy for examples of extreme cruelty. In conclusion, we believe that there should be stronger punishments for animal cruelty.
