The 2nd Amendment is the cornerstone that gives citizens the right to own 'arms', i.e. various forms of firearms. A repeal of such an archaic amendment is unlikely. Guns may be protected, but the sale, distribution or manufacturing of the projectiles they fire is not. We can curb both gun violence and not violate our Constitutional Rights by simply removing bullets from the equation. Consider a ban on all sales in stores or online, manufacturing or distribution of fired projectiles in the U.S. Direct legal liability for crimes committed with illegal bullets should be given to violators who provide/manufacture/sell illegally under this new law. EXCEPTION: State governments and the Feds may purchase bullets through government contracts exclusively for public police/military services.
