This petition aims to persuade the White House to introduce legislation that would allow for presidential elections to be decided by a simple majority, instead of an electoral college vote.
The Electoral College is an outdated system that was created when votes could not be accurately and reliably counted and the voting process was unreliable.
Today with modern technology we can accurately count votes and precisely determine who won the majority.
Although the electoral college "usually" votes with the public vote, the system degrades the power of the individual vote and makes it so certain states have disproportionate amounts of power during election years.
If the legislation proposed was successfully enacted individual voting power would be effectively restored.
