To restore justice & the 4th & 5th Amendment, please introduce laws that:
* End federal civil asset forfeiture (CAF) programs
* End Equitable Sharing
* Deny fed. funds to state/local gov that continues CAF
CAF is armed robbery, plain & simple. It should not be tolerated anywhere in the USA. How free is anyone if all you own can be taken w/o due process?
CAF is gov seizure of property & cash, even when the owner isn't charged with a crime, based on mere suspicion. Does your money have drug traces on it (90% does)? It can be confiscated. Carrying a sizable amount of cash? It might be used for drug purchases, & can be summarily taken. The list of reasons is ever expanding. Owners must enter a costly, time-consuming process to get their property back; even then they may be denied.
