Introduce legislation to make it a felony offense to lie, misrepresent, or deceive the public in campaign ads

Created by T.F. on March 27, 2014

We require truth in advertising from food and consumer products advertisers, so why can't the same standards apply to candidates and their election committees? It can, it should, and it will if we have courage to stand up and say "we have had enough of the lies, the deceit and the misrepresentations." Instead of a simple focus on tracking PAC money, let's pay some attention to the content of the messaging. General Mills can't lie to us on a cereal box and GM can't lie to us in a car commercial, why do we tolerate it with political campaigns? Voters have aright to the truth. It is time to take a stand and do what is right. Make it a felony to engage in such conduct.
