There are places and times where people's right to protect themselves from the tyranny and malevolence of others, guarded by the Second Amendment, has to be superseded by their right for collective safety and peace of mind. As such, governments may decide to establish gun-free zones, where no ordinary citizen may carry a firearm or other weapon.
Such zones include schools, airports, courtrooms, and other places of congregation.
Some of those places, like courtrooms, are reasonably protected from armed assailants who chose to disregard the law. Others, especially schools, are not. This petition is asking for universal armed protection of gun-free zones, whether by police, by private security, or by trained and certified staff members.
Protect our children like we protect our lawyers.
