There are current, available energy sources that have the potential to eliminate America's need for oil, or at least foreign oil. There is currently a process in which water undergoes electrolysis to create oxy hydrogen gas that can be burned as fuel in cars. It is fueled by water, and its exhaust is solely water vapor. There is also a new nuclear process using thorium. It has been estimated that the nuclear energy available in thorium is greater than that available from all of the world’s oil, coal and uranium combined. Thorium is three times more abundant in the earth's crust than uranium. It is also a far more safe reaction than uranium.
The government should invest in these technologies on large scale productions to create energy jobs, eliminate our need for oil, and protect the earth
