Technology and Computer Science are key to current and future jobs, yet we are not preparing students for them in our K-12 schools.
An estimated 90% of public K-12 schools do not even offer Computer Science. In most places it is possible to graduate from high school without ever touching a computer. At those schools that do offer some Computer Science or Programming classes, they generally only count as an elective.
To prepare our students for the demands of college and the job market beyond, they need exposure to these skills early and often. Computer Science skills apply to a wide variety of disciplines and should be required study for everyone.
We urge the Administration to bring attention to this national issue, and bring Computer Science into our schools.
