Invest in modern nuclear reactors. Base nuclear policy on science rather than public fear due to events in Japan, etc.

Created by H.A. on September 24, 2011

Many individuals, including some petitioners in this public forum, have opposition to nuclear power as a fuel source. While some concerns are valid, factors including the proliferation of inaccuracy by most media outlets cause disasters with nuclear power to take the spotlight, despite many quiet successes where reactors work with no problems, and indeed provide power on a scale that is simply not attainable with other current fuel sources, renewable or not.

Furthermore, crises such as the nuclear leakages following the recent major earthquake in Japan are not representative of the sort of performance we might expect from a modern reactor, made with sufficient funding here in the USA. The reactors involved were outdated; modern reactors would provide safety and readily available energy.
