The United States is being outpaced by international powers in terms of research funding, a key factor in the success of the United States. The vast majority of researchers in the United States are foreign born immigrants who have come to this land for an OPPORTUNITY and nothing more. With the increase in scientific spending overseas it won't be long before the top opportunities and institutions of research no longer reside in the United States. When we lose the status we will also lose the intellect that has been so instrumental in the development of so many facets of the American economy.
