Current government funding for innovation is geared toward “companies that build innovations” but is not available for “innovations that build companies”. Historically small entity or individual inventors have built some of our largest companies. For example, Thomas Edison - General Electric, Steve Jobs and Wozniak - Apple Inc., Bill Gates - Microsoft, Georges de Mestral - Velcro, etc... For example, a small entity in NC, NAIM Corporation, has made the most progressive and innovative change in 150 years to the roofing industry. Their OmniMax Roofing system eliminates many negative roofing issues in a single technology and provides benefits over a broad range, but achievable government funding is not available. Direct funding or grants for small entity or individual innovations is needed.
