Nuclear energy was split between two technologies: Solid Fuel reactors, and Liquid Thorium salt . Solid fuel was adopted due to the government desire to also create nuclear weapons. The reactors are dangerous and we must constant try to prevent a meltdown.
Molten Salt Reactors (Alt Name), are safe and can not be weaponized. Instead of us trying to stop an explosion, we only need to try to keep the reaction going. It is much simpler and does not need to be constantly monitored. If the system fails, the reactor cools and turns solid. There is also a fail safe where all of the fuel will dump down into holding tanks. It is not under pressure, so there is no threat of explosion.
It can also be used to degrade existing toxic waste and desalinize water. Please investigate before China does!
