Private student loan providers often take advantage of those most vulnerable in the search for higher education. Though companies like Sallie Mae make it easy for students to get money they need for school, they make it next to impossible to pay off, offer no refinancing mechinisms, and often drive students into near bankruptcy (near because student loans cannot be removed through bankruptcy). We ask the president to consider protecting less well-to-do students by not stopping at just reforming federal student loans, but reforming the private student loan industry as well. It was privatized by legislation, so there is nothing (besides lobbyists) stopping it from being reformed now. Please help us.
