It's a well-known fact that the banks have been protected as "too big to fail", and yet the fastest economic recovery was seen in Iceland where the banks were not only allowed to fail, but the leaders raping the public coffers are being prosecuted. The Iceland government bailed out the People instead of the banks.
Trickle down economics does not work ... $100 given to a person with enough money may be spent today, tomorrow, or in a few weeks. However, $100 given to a person barely making ends meet gets spent immediately.
Anyone with a basic understanding of how capitalism works understands that the value of a dollar is in how many times it is re-used rather than some arbitrary intrinsic value.
Therefore, invest the dollars where they'll make the most positive economic impact.
