During their tenure, Bush administration officials allegedly sanctioned and encouraged the use of torture at Abu Ghraib, Gitmo, and other secret prisons against detainees ranging from combatants to uncharged civilians. Arbitrary and indefinite detention without charges was common. Torture techniques reported by the victims include waterboarding, sexual degradation, sexual assault, drugging, sleep deprivation, religious humiliation, violent beatings, and other graphic abuses of human rights. It weakens America to have potential top-level perpetrators of these crimes free from prosecution. It degrades our Constitution, discourages our allies, and gives ammo to our enemies in the struggle for hearts and minds.
