As the internet and telecommunication technology become increasing integrated and essential to the daily functioning of citizens, it becomes evermore important that citizens are protected from abuse by providers of these services. Although the regulated telephone monopoly was broken up to encourage completion, the industry has coalesced into a few players who exert far too much control. We need the federal government to protect its citizens, through the regulation of this industry,from the potential for abuse that can occur when a vital resource, such interconnectivity has become is controlled by so few.
