At least 368 gymnasts from over the years have come forward to detail that not only were they molested or sexually assaulted at the hands of their coaches, but that key members of the USA-Gymnastics organization ignored or disregarded such allegations in the name of "saving their image". With the USA-G's inaction comes the reality that gyms nationwide could be considered a breeding ground for rampant pedophilia, making them just as dangerous as crack houses and gang-infested neighborhoods. Furthermore, the victims (ages 6-14) then feel the pressure to say nothing for reasons ranging from embarrassment to misunderstanding that what happened was wrong and possibly shame. In Olympic competition, as well as in life, we need to hold athletes AND coaches to the same high standards of integrity.
