The spent nuclear fuel waste is accumulating at reactor sites all over the country. There was supposed to be a repository for all the waste at Yucca mountain in Nevada inside the old Nevada test site where hundreds of nuclear tests took place. Everybody wants to know what to do with the waste. Well, it can be recycled and reused to create more energy. There is a problem of recycling that separates out fissionable plutonium, but do countries that want to make nuclear bombs really need our plutonium to do it. If we can recycle we can burn the plutonium in a fast reactor and it will be gone. This recycling reduces the overall waste while not having to store it for thousands of years before the radioactivity is decreased.
