On Monday, September 26th, Deputy Inspector Anthony Bologna was caught on film indiscriminately using pepper spray on peaceful protesters who were not refusing lawful orders or in any other way resisting police officers. Additional supervisory personnel are seen throwing people to the ground for no evident reason.
Three days of NYC defense of the use of pepper spray by Inspector Bologna lends little credence to NYPD's internal affairs ability to effectively address the offenses. It must be addressed at a federal level.
Please direct Attorney General Holder to open a comprehensive federal civil rights investigation against Inspector Bologna in particular and the leadership of the NYC Police Department in general.
