investigate cellular network/device providers practice of installing applications on customer-owned devices.

Created by J.R. on March 12, 2015

Applications are installed on customer-owned devices (e.g, cells phones, tablets) without owner knowledge or approval. Furthermore, in many instances, the applications cannot be removed by the owner. This can result in negative impacts on device storage capacity and processing speed. The result of this practice is often referred to as "bloatware."

Network and device providers should be required to give device owners the option to install new applications. Automatic installs without permission should be illegal.
