Investigate the closing of 23 Philadelphia Public Schools and the conversions of district run schools to charter schools

Created by T.K. on March 10, 2013

There should be a federal investigation launched into the City of Philadelphia, School Reform Commission and School District of Philadelphia. Recently, the SRC voted to close 23 public schools and converted several public schools to Renaissance Charter Academies. Despite, the pleas of parents, teachers, community and city council members, the SRC voted to close these schools. Perhaps these buildings are "prime real estate" and maybe sold to local universities and businesses. Since the SRC was appointed by the governor ten years ago to run Philadelphia's schools the quality of education has rapidly declined and the bank accounts of charter school managers has increased. The children of Philadelphia deserve a better education, they don't deserve their schools sold to the highest bidder.
