In February 2008, after over a year of erratic behavior, Britney Spears was placed under a conservatorship.
Since then, Britney Spears has had the mental, emotional, and physical capacity to release 2 studio albums, endure the strain of two months-long international tours, make numerous public appearances, engage in frequent interviews, participate in numerous promotional campaigns, and maintain custody of her minor children.
The vast majority of adult conservatorships in our country are for senior citizens with dementia or Alzheimer’s disease, or those with lifelong developmental conditions or a serious brain injury.
Britney falls into none of these categories, and she seems to be functioning well in life now, so why does she still have a conservator, overseen by a court of law?
