Neurosurgery is considered most dissimilar amongst sub-specialties, given neurology is regarded the most delicately complex anatomy of the human body. This bares greatest amount of risk to the patient, but also to the surgeon. Few benefits for enhancement exist, except preventative surgery prolonging a patient's life. Many risks exist to patients & commonly occur & include morbidity & mortality. Neurosurgeons bare legal risks, civil and criminal cases, malpractice to manslaughter where patients even survive but have significantly reduced life expectancy. 1983 D.
