On June 23, 2012 Darren Rainey, a mentally ill prisoner at Dade Correctional Institution in Miami, was locked in a scalding hot shower room for over an hour by the correctional officers. When the door was next opened, Darren Rainey was dead. He was burned so badly that, according to the Miami Herald,his skin had shriveled off his body, what is known as slippage.
There have still not been any charges filed regarding this incident, the autopsy of Darren Rainey has also not been completed. This is a complete failure of the justice system and we are calling for a Federal Investigation into Mr. Rainey's heinous death.
