On February 1, 2016 India Cummings was arrested and taken into custody, where she died. The circumstances of her death remain unclear. India’s mother claims that her daughter was denied medical assistance which led to her death. We, the undersigned, require:
- Independent inquiry into the conditions and circumstances surrounding the death of India Cummings.
- Punishment for everyone involved in India’s death.
- Reformation of the laws that allow police departments to conduct internal investigations regarding deaths of the detainees. Such investigations must be made by the state government agencies.
