investigate the Department of Justice Civil Asset Forfeiture program and make changes to protect Constitutional rights.

Created by C.A. on December 27, 2015

In FY14, the DOJ received ~$4.5 billion in "donations and forfeitures" of cash and property. That same year, the FBI reports that Americans lost only ~$4.3 billion to burglary and robbery.

There are many cases of Civil Asset Forfeiture where no charges are ever filed against the citizens from whom these assets are seized. These seizures are blatantly unreasonable and epitomize the reason our Founding Fathers wrote the 4th Amendment. Citizens are forced to expend large sums of money in long, drawn out fights to reclaim their property.

Please investigate this program and consider directing changes to it that would better protect our rights as citizens. Thank you.
