Investigate Destruction of Indigenous Ceremonial Center in SE Puerto Rico

Created by C.M. on May 27, 2012

In 2008 our organization signed a binding contract with the past Commonwealth administration to recreate, revitalize and reconstruct a ceremonial cultural center for our community on Commonwealth owned land. With community participation our organization recreated a cultural space that included organic farm, two ceremonial plazas, and native bohios or house. The area served as a ceremonial cultural center for our people.

In 2009, we were forced to accept the demands of the Future Entrepreneurs and Workers Training Administration and a Puerto Rico Senate Commission, to remove (erase) all traces of our Ceremonial Center. We are a regionally recognized Indigenous Base Community and organization.
