On July 5, 2016, a statement was issued by FBI Director James B. Comey on the Investigation of Secretary Hillary Clinton’s Use of a Personal E-Mail System; Dir. Comey further declared personal opinions and judgments. He confessed: I have not coordinated or reviewed this statement in any way with the Department of Justice or any other part of the government. They do not know what I am about to say.
Counter to Dept of Justice guidance, in October, Dir. Comey took more controversial action, issuing an unclear and vague letter to Congress setting off a political firestorm. His final political intrusion, 48 hours before the election, demands Congressional investigations at his leadership of the FBI. His actions, evocative of banana republics, threatens our democracy.
