The week before the election, FBI Director James Comey released a statement that indicated a revived investigation of Democratic candidate Hillary Rodham Clinton and emails related to her. This action greatly affect public sentiment about the high polling candidate, and drastically shifted the national opinion of her in a negative way, assisting the Republican candidate Donald J. Trump. Several days later, Director Comey released another statement saying that there was no new information to be found. It should be ensured that Director Comey did not purposely release a statement that would intentionally and negatively affect the candidacy of Mrs. Clinton and assist Mr. Trump. The Department of Justice should appoint a special prosecutor to investigate the actions of Director Comey.
