As it is known that members of the State Legislature of West Virginia, Governor Earl Ray Tomblin, and United States Senators Joe Manchin and Jay Rockefeller maintain close ties with and have received campaign funds from both coal and chemical industries, we believe that a full-scale and thorough Federal investigation is necessary in order to identify and bring to justice all persons responsible for the January 9, 2014 chemical leak at Freedom Industries in Charleston, WV.
Due to the gravity of the situation, its relation to the security of the water supply and that state officials may be complicit in the failure to investigate or report, all communications between state officials and Freedom Industries should be seized and reviewed as provided by Title II of the USA PATRIOT Act.
